Green Pasture Christian Outreach is a local Non Governmental, non partisan and an interdenominational Organisation formed in 1998 with a commitment by the founders to help the vulnerable groups have access to services to improve their general welfare.
We do in our activities sensitise women and youth to realise their position in community development so as to eradicate poverty and improve their welfare , encouraging development group formation and identification of income generating and food production projects.
In a self help programme we started a secondary and vocational school in which we are helping needy, poor and orphaned students who were failing to cope up with high fees charges in other schools, some had dropped out of school. But the challenge is that there are too many children out there who have failed to get support for their welfare and school needs especially girls who have no option but to be married off to raise support for their brothers and parents in terms of bride price, with so many coming to us for assistance yet we are also limited, as a matter of fact even those we support are still faced with many other challenges in terms of raising scholastic materials, and basic needs at home. Being a young institution with no support for sustainance our teachers are faced with a challenge of catering for their welfare.
The school has started with the secondary section with the vocational section awaiting acquisition of vocational tools. We also plan to promote music among students and acquire musical instruments which include a brass band for training the street and orphaned children, this is to help these children develop talents and also perform in public functions, like weddings, graduations, matching and other public or community celebrations to raise funds to help them financially, for their education fees and also cater for the instructors with a percentage for the schools development to develop the projects capacity to support other children in future.
We desire to increase the educational access and quality for the disadvantaged groups of children as indicated above since they are the tomorrow leaders and thinkers, and through education the aim of promoting development will definitely become practical.
I would therefore wish to request for any support in your reach for the betterment of the welfare of the disadvantaged especially the girl child who on top of their state of being orphans, needy and poor, they are also subjected to early marriages and denied access to education. We are targeting at working towards self sustainance in our programmes keeping in mind that resources are limited even in the donor world and therefore every support given to the school will be of great help towards achieving this noble cause.
The school is located in Musoto village, Tsabanyanya Parish, Bungokho Mutoto Sub-county in Mbale District. Mbale District is found in the Eastern part of Uganda, neighboring Kenya.
